In the steel production process, various rolls are core equipment in key links such as steel rolling and continuous casting, directly affecting steel quality, production efficiency, and equipment service life.

Core Function

In continuous casters, it supports high-temperature cast slabs (billets after solidification of molten steel), guides their forming and conveying, and cools the cast slabs through internal water cooling systems to control the solidification rate.

Application 

Rollers under the mold of continuous casters, rolls in the secondary cooling zone (secondary cooling area), rolls of withdrawal and straightening machines, etc.

It is the "throat component" of continuous casting production, and its performance directly affects cast slab quality (such as surface cracks, internal porosity) and caster operation rate.



Working Environment

Extreme high temperature: Contact with hot cast slabs at 800~1200°C, subject to severe thermal shock and thermal fatigue.

High load: Supporting heavy cast slabs (thickness from tens of millimeters to hundreds of millimeters), requiring bending and deformation resistance.

Oxidation and wear: Prone to oxidation at high temperatures, and the oxide scale on the cast slab surface will accelerate roll surface wear.


Material Characteristics

Substrate material: Heat-resistant steel (such as 3Cr24Ni7SiN, 25Cr2Mo1V), with high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance.

Surface treatment: Some rolls are surfacing welded with wear-resistant alloys (such as high-chromium cast iron) or sprayed with ceramic coatings to enhance wear resistance and thermal fatigue resistance.

Structural design: Equipped with complex internal water cooling channels to ensure rapid heat dissipation and avoid overheating cracking of the roll surface.
