Hydraulic Coupling Failure and Treatment Methods

Time : 2023-08-11    Browse : 12

Fluid drive couplings are widely used in heavy industries such as metallurgy and electricity. They are important equipment for connecting engines and working machines. They transfer energy through the interaction of the momentum of liquid and turbine, which can improve efficiency by about 30%, which is very beneficial to factory production.

Although hydrodynamic couplings are highly adaptable to the environment and have the functions of reducing impact and isolating torsional vibration, they are still inevitably damaged during use, which will lead to reduced or even stopped factory production efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary for manufacturers to master some maintenance knowledge of hydraulic couplings. Here are some common faults and treatment methods of hydraulic couplings.

I. Oil Leakage

There are three main reasons for oil leakage, and the corresponding solutions are as follows:

Oil seal failure or defective relative to the shaft surface of the oil seal: Replace the oil seal or repair the oil seal during maintenance to solve the problem.

Sealant failure or uneven application of sealant during maintenance: This situation will cause oil leakage on the end face and oil leakage on the bolt hole, and only needs to be re-sealed.

The end face clearance of the oil pump is too small: Adjusting the end face clearance of the oil pump can solve the problem.

II. Excessive Noise During Operation

Gear deformation or gear fixing problems: Replace the oil pump shaft to match the gear to eliminate the defect.

Damage to bearings or other fasteners: this situation is time-consuming and labor-intensive to handle, and will also affect the safe operation of the unit.

It is not recommended for manufacturers to repair it themselves. It is recommended that manufacturers conduct daily inspections of hydraulic couplings, carry out preventive maintenance, and replace spare parts that have expired in time to avoid the problem from worsening.

III. Overheating

Cooling system problems: Blockage, scaling, or insufficient cooling water in the coupling cooler can cause overheating. This can be solved by repeatedly cleaning the cooler and increasing the amount of cooling water.

Improper oil volume: Too much or too little oil in the hydraulic coupling can also cause overheating. Just adjust the oil volume to a reasonable range.
