Precautions for Fluid Coupling from Installation to Use

Time : 2020-07-01    Browse : 17

Hydraulic couplings are favored by manufacturers for their advantages of extending the life of equipment systems, improving overall efficiency, reducing current peaks and grid loads. However, there are many precautions to be noted during the installation and use process, as follows:

I. Preparation before Installation

Before installation, check whether the shaft diameter, keyway, shaft extension and total length of the motor shaft, input and output holes of the hydraulic coupling, working machine shaft (or reducer shaft) to be assembled meet the requirements. At the same time, remove burrs and repair damaged surfaces. In terms of matching selection, it is recommended to use a clearance fit with a smaller gap between the shaft hole of the hydraulic coupling and the motor shaft and reducer shaft. Transition fit is also acceptable, but interference fit must not be used.

II. Maintenance and Monitoring During Use

During operation, the staff must ensure that the operating parameters of the hydraulic coupling, such as temperature, lubricating oil pressure, and oil level, are within the allowable range, which can not only extend its service life, but also reduce the occurrence of faults. During normal maintenance, the following inspections must be done: Check whether the system has oil, steam, or water leakage.

Confirm that the local temperature, pressure, flow rate, speed and other important parameters are normal.

Regularly check the mechanical seal water temperature and switch the mechanical seal water filter in time.

III. Repair of Common Faults

Unable to reach the rated speed

Possible reasons: motor failure or incorrect connection, resulting in the jamming of the working machine; excessive power consumption of the working machine; too much or too little filling, so that the motor cannot reach the rated power; oil leakage of the hydraulic coupling.

Troubleshooting method: Check the current, speed and power consumption of the motor; check the working machine to eliminate the cause of jamming; check the power consumption and calculate whether it exceeds the standard value; check the filling amount and release the appropriate amount of working fluid.

Fusible Plug Often Melts

Possible reasons: too little filling; oil leakage of the hydraulic coupling; excessive power consumption of the working machine; too long starting time; too long braking time of the working machine; frequent startup of the hydrodynamic coupling; too low melting point of the fusible alloy; improper selection of coupling model specifications.

Troubleshooting methods: Fill the specified amount of fluid, replace the seals, and tighten the bolts; verify whether the power exceeds the specified value, and check whether the working machine has a long-term braking failure; select a suitable fusible plug and a large-size coupling.
